Mountain Weekend 2008

Ok - so I'm a little behind... before I talk about "Mountain Weekend 2008" I have to update yall on a couple cute new things Harrison is doing! First - Harrison has said his first word!! YEAH! He has been saying Mama and Dada for a while - but not really directed at Corey and I... so I don't really count that... BUT - his first real official word is....."BYE BYE"!!! He even throws in a wave whenever he leaves a room!! So cute!! That's the only word he says... BUT he can also tell you what sound a pig says - and a dog says - and my favorite what a sheep says!!! SO cute!! He can also find his ears, mouth, and his bellybutton!!! YEAH!!!

Ok... now for Mountain Weekend! For the last couple of years my family has taken a trip to the North Georgia Mountains (usually around Blue Ridge - where my mom is from) for a long weekend in the fall. It's really relaxing - we usually do some shopping in downtown Blue Ridge - some hiking - sometimes we fish - check out the leaves changing... whatever we're in the mood for! Anyway here are a couple pictures...

Harrison REALLY wanted to try some of Nana's coffee - so Nana let him have some... (please note that my mom drinks her coffee black!!! GROSS)

I think he actually liked it!

He climbed the stairs ALL weekend - thought it was the best thing EVER!

Harrison got to ride on Daddy's back while we were hiking.... HE LOVED IT!! (and it's SO cute!)
We stopped for a family picture... I love this shot!
Look at that face!! :)
One of the view on our hike
Another view
Father and son moment...
Seriously - cutest kid EVER! Playtime in the leaves!

I promise the train doesn't run on this part of the tracks!!! :)

Play time and Pumpkins!

In addition to the Build-A-Bear experience this weekend Harrison also got a new "do" (don't worry there were no scissors involved)- a soccer lesson with 2 personal trainers - some park play time - and a trip to a pumpkin patch (with pigs). The whole thing doesn't really need too much explanation - so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves! I will say that I'm not sure who had more fun at the park... Harrison or Laura and David!?!? You decide! :)

Lovin' the faux hawk (he thinks he's really cool!)

He's SHOCKED you don't think he's that cool!

Spikes or faux hawk.... which do you like better?

Learning from the pros....

(maybe you should put it on the ground dude?!?)

Time to SLIDE!!!

More sliding with Nana

Even more sliding - seriously this kid could slide ALL day!!...

Hmm... which pumpkin do I like the best?!?!

I got him to stop long enough for a picture with me! :)

(That doesn't happen very often!!)

Very focused!! haha!

Help - I don't know which pumpkin to pick!!!!

And... the pigs!!! He could NOT take his eyes off these pigs!! Next time you see him ask him what sounds a pig makes... it's SO cute!!! :)

Build a BUDDY!

So Harrison received a Build-a-Bear gift card for his 1st b-day and we finally got around to using it! Corey was studying all weekend - so Nana, Aunt Laura, and David went with Harrison and I to BUILD A BEAR!!
The whole process was a little confusing at first - not to mention there was WAY too much to choose from!! Not to worry though - between the 4 adults (yeah I know - kinda sad) we finally got the hang of the whole thing and before we knew it we were building a bear. About the only thing we could get Harrison to do was put the heart inside the bear - and let me assure you - that was a struggle! As you can see in the pictures Harrison was really only interested in playing with a little toy cell phone - so the whole process really evolved into Aunt Laura builds a bear (and I take pictures).... Oh yeah - for those of you who were wondering- we ended up naming the bear "Buddy" - aren't we original!!! :)

This is Harrison NOT being the least bit interested in picking his bear!
Here is Harrison actually participating and putting the heart in his bear!

Aunt Laura cleaning the bear!

Laura and David dressing the bear while Nana tries to get Harrison to care!

Harrison playing with the cell phone!!!

Oh yeah - there was also a little "peek-a-boo" action too!! Kinda cute huh?!?!

It all started with a mini-horse and a cow in a skirt....

What a busy weekend! It all started Saturday morning with a trip to the Pace Academy Fall Fair! I thought Harrison might be ready for some Fall Fair fun... however for those of you who don't know he's going through a VERY clingy/needy phase! So we go to the fair - and we try to let him play in this "box maze" (a really cool maze made out of refrigerator boxes)but he's having none of it... so we walk around for a while - just checking everything out and then we decide to let him try a pony ride. If you take at the pictures below you might think this pony ride went pretty well... (you'll also notice that we're not even talking about a big pony - we're talking about a tiny mini-horse!!)

well you're wrong - these pictures were right before the giant melt down! Corey tried to put Harrison on the horse and as soon as Harrison realized what we going on - he grabbed onto Corey like his life depended on it!!! It was kinda sad... so we skipped the pony ride!! Instead we just let Harrison run around the front lawn and clap.... he was happy - and that's all that matters!! Maybe next year little man!! :)
PS - he was pretty excited about the big Chick-fil-A cow in the skirt.... go figure - he's afraid of the tiny mini-horse - but the giant cow in the skirt is ok with him??? whatever floats your boat!

Oh yeah - so the rest of the weekend consisted of a flu shot - a trip to Mimi and G's and Owen's 1st birthday party.... I'll try to get some more pictures up ASAP! :)
